Can I ask what jboss's long term intentions are for the portal project now that jboss.org has switched from using it?
Sure you can :-)
We intend to continue portal project and as Thomas has mentioned we are looking at releasing Portal 2.7 in the next couple of weeks. This will include JSR 286 support among other new features like the Portlet Bridge that Wesley has been getting some fame for.
While over the past couple of years it may have seemed that the Portal project was losing some momentum we have done fairly well with adoption. This is a strong signal that people want more from us and we intend to deliver. Look for at least 3 community releases (counting 2.7) over the next 12 to 18 months. We are also doing serious investigation into becoming more a leader than a follower in the portal space by improving our presentation, security and content capabilities.
We applaud the JBoss.org decision to choose the right tool for the job. They really needed a dedicated CMS solution with straightforward authoring capabilities and Magnolia fit the bill.
Great question thanks!
Jason Andersen - product manager JBoss Portal.
What I don't like on the new JBoss.org is that I rank pretty low and considered as a newbie ;)
At least before they didn't have this feature, I was under the radar :)
@andersen family, thanks for the quick reply and putting my mind at ease! All the best for the future development of Jboss portal!
